Races

Baja SAE National Events

Every year, SAE hosts multiple races across the United States. They follow a rotating list of event locations ranging from Washington and Arizona to New York and Maryland. These events are multi-day and are to showcase each team's design and business sides before being capped off with an endurance race.

Day 1 (Business Presentatons)

The first day is for sales/business presentations. We present to a panel of industry judges on commercial viability and costs. The car also undergoes a rigorous tech inspection on the first day.

Day 2 (Design Presentations)

The second day presents an opportunity for teams to showcase their engineering improvements and what sets them apart from other teams. These presentations help show the judges how the team arrived at their decisions and how they went about testing these advancements.

Day 3 (Dynamic Events)

The third day is exclusively for time trials, where each car competes individually. Each team races their car through events, including a maneuverability course, an acceleration track, a hill climb or tractor pull event, and a special event specified for each competition (often suspension and traction or rock crawl).

Day 4 (Dynamic Events)

The capstone of the national event is the 4-hour race that takes place on the fourth day. Teams race wheel-to-wheel, which makes designing a competitive yet durable car integral to success.

Regional Events

Each year, Wildcat Racing competes in two local Baja races. These races are much more relaxed and are meant for new team members to have fun and experience a race environment before going to a national event.
