Baja SAE Racing at Northern Michigan University is an engineering project team that biannually designs, builds, and races an off-road vehicle to compete in the SAE Collegiate Baja Design Series. By encouraging hands-on engineering and project-based learning, Wildcat Racing takes engineering out of the classroom (and onto the track) for students. We follow a two-year build cycle, which means we take a full school year to spec out and design our cars before moving on to the manufacturing year. We pour our passion and enthusiasm into all of our cars, and that allows us to understand every bolt and washer. The competition requires students to balance design and cost with dynamic performance while following a strict set of safety guidelines and standardized rules.
We accept students from all majors! Diversity drives innovation, and new ideas keep our team competitive.
As a member, you get to provide input and ideas that may end up on the cars while getting feedback from your peers.
If engineering isn't your forte, help manage our social media and reach out to the community.
The purpose of our team is to help develop the ideas and skills you learn in the classroom. Races and outreach events are great opportunities to get yourself out there!
