About Us
To promote the scholarship and practice of Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA).
During the NMU school year, we meet every other Sunday from 5-6:30p in Dance Studio #130 within the PEIF to learn techniques, spar, partake in drills, and to ultimately enjoy historical European martial arts. We focus primarily on German long-sword, but explore other sword arts as well (rapier, saber). Community members and students all welcome. This is an open group where individuals may attend as they please. Gear is provided, but may be limited at times; participants are welcome to bring their own gear as long as it doesn't have sharp edges. Spectators are welcome. A one-time $15 donation per annual school year is encouraged and highly appreciated to help support the group in evolving and in meeting the needs of those who attend. Our HEMA group is all-age, all-gender inclusive and welcoming.
During the summer, we try to meet every other Friday from 6-7:30p at Ellwood A. Mattson Lower Harbor Park.
