Frequently asked questions

How can I apply to direct something?

We are a group focused on inclusion. This means that there are no applications to direct or produce anything through NMUDoIt. Instead, you will have a "pitch meeting" with one or two of the current board members to discuss your project and the work you've put into it so far. The board member(s) will then take your idea to a meeting with the President or Vice President for project approval.

What does the production process look like?

This will look different for every production but expect to be emailing a lot with the board member(s) you schedule your pitch meeting with. You will collaborate with them on filling in the blanks from your pitch deck. This can include finalizing a budget, finding team members, and finding a venue.

What should I bring to my pitch meeting?

You should come with a fully prepared "pitch deck" this should include: your concept, your team, your proposed budget, a timeframe for rehearsals and tech, and concept and direction. This should be presented in a slide show and should be very well thought out and extensive, the more prep work you can do before your meeting the better!

How can I increase the chances of my project being selected?

Be prepared at your pitch meeting. Projects will be selected based on if the board thinks it can realistically fit into the season, the availability of your proposed team, budget, and whether or not the board feels that you will commit to put in the work needed to bring your project to life.
