Mission
Applied Humanics and Holistic Arts (AHHA!) is a student organization dedicated to exploring the intersections of social work, the arts, and community practice. Our mission is to create spaces where students can engage in creative, relational, and holistic approaches to learning, healing, and social change.

The name “AHHA!” reflects both our academic grounding in applied humanics and our belief in the power of ah-ha! moments — those sparks of recognition, connection, and transformation that occur when diverse disciplines and people come together. Through workshops, dialogues, performances, and collaborative projects, we seek to foster belonging, deepen cultural literacy, and spark imaginative approaches to personal and collective well-being.

Students can join Applied Humanics and Holistic Arts (AHHA!) by signing up through our page on The Hub NMU or by attending any of our meetings/events. Membership is open to all NMU students—no experience required. Just bring your interest in creativity, community, and holistic approaches to well-being!

The Medical Equity Response Group (MERG) is committed to enhancing students' experiences at all stages of their education, including pre-med, nursing, social work, psychology, radiology, physical therapy, surgical tech, and more. Through providing educational opportunities to students interested in diversity, our fundamental aim is to promote health care students' experiences and skills in dealing with a varied set of students as well as patients. Our aim is to improve the health of racial and ethnic minority populations through the development of health policies and bring awareness and education that will help eliminate health disparities.

Mission
The Student Social Work Organization (SSWO) was created for all NMU students to connect with each other and the community in which we all live in. SSWO's sole purpose is to practice the true meaning of our NASW Code of Ethics and work together as a team to support our community and campus. Although most of our organization consists of social work majors, anyone is welcome to join in on all of the fun. In the past, SSWO has volunteered, planned events raised awareness for several social issues and created a safe place for discussion.
