Black Love Day, created in 1993 by Ayo Handy-Kendi, founder of the African American Holiday Association (AAHA), is a day dedicated to observance, celebration, and reflection. This meaningful holiday focuses on reconciliation, atonement, and demonstrating love within and for the Black community. It emphasizes five tenets of love:
1. Love for the Creator
2. Love for Self
3. Love for Family
4. Love for the Community
5. Love for the Black Race
To honor this special day, we’re spreading love through delicious desserts and candy grams! Each item will include a note explaining Black Love Day and sharing ways to spread joy and positivity.
