About Us

The Wildcat Marching Band The Pride of the North is an amazing ensemble to be a part of when you are first getting to know NMU or renewing old friendships. Where else can you earn college credit for having fun? A typical marching season includes five or six home football games and selected campus activities. We want to emphasize, however, that marching band at the university level generally takes less time than in high school. Our activities are carefully planned so the total time involved is not a strain on most students' academic schedules. We look for musicians for woodwind, percussion, and brass sections and individuals interested in participating in the color guard. The Wildcat Marching Band is open to all university students regardless of their major. For more information, email: Director of Bands Dr. Steven Riley at striley@nmu.edu Personnel Manager Emily Falker at efalker@nmu.edu
