Workshop participants will be led through a series of creative exercises to help them imagine and articulate their visions of a more just, equitable, diverse, and inclusive future. This ability to envision long-term goals and ideal futures is critical for leaders who believe that better worlds are possible and want to work toward building them. The practice of "world-building" has been used by science fiction writers, activists, and working professionals alike to break through cynicism, stimulate the imagination, and develop resilience to the inevitable roadblocks and failures that come with working toward social change.

Through a hands-on demonstration, this workshop will also offer participants a basic introduction to simple bookmaking techniques so that participants can share their visions of a better future with others through zines. We will discuss why making and sharing zines is an important and accessible strategy for amplifying voices and perspectives.

To participate in the hands-on bookmaking demonstration, participants should bring at least 5 sheets of 8.5x11 inch paper, a marker, and a pencil.
