We are in need of volunteers for our annual Point in Time Count! The Point in Time Count (PIT Count) 2026 is scheduled for Wednesday, January 28th at 6pm and 9pm. Volunteers are needed to accompany Room at the Inn staff to canvas Marquette County to reach any individuals experiencing homelessness that are currently unsheltered.
The Point in Time Count takes census of all people experiencing homelessness on a given night in January. This information is collected to connect unsheltered individuals with services, monitor homelessness program effectiveness, provide data for homelessness-related programming and policy, and provide data to allocate funding and resources.
Within our service area of Marquette County, we will have groups of 5 canvassing the area, in 2 waves at 6pm and 9pm. The 6pm wave will cover Negaunee, Ishpeming, Gwinn, and K.I. Sawyer. The 9pm wave will cover the City of Marquette and Marquette Township.
Volunteers and Staff will gather at the RATI Administrative Office (Catholic Social Services - 347 Rock St., Marquette) at their time slot. Transportation, a brief training, and all necessary supplies will be provided. Spots are limited! Volunteers should dress warm for winter weather.

NMU recognizes Weds., January 21st as 'Thank Your Mentor Day'
A day when we're encouraged to express our gratitude toward someone who has guided and inspired us, and made a positive and lasting impact on our lives.
Expressing gratitude is a powerful way to strengthen the mentor-mentee relationship and show appreciation for their time and effort. A simple thank-you message can go a long way in acknowledging their impact on our personal and professional development. Whether it's through a heartfelt email, a handwritten note, or a small token of appreciation, let's make an effort to show our mentors how much we value them.
Please take a moment to thank your mentor!
The UP200 is coming up!
Here's your opportunity to be a part of something really special. The UP200, Midnight Run and Jack Pine 30 are looking for volunteers. Volunteers are needed from Feb. 12-16 at a variety of locations.
You can gain CSI hours or SB! Credit by volunteering at this event.
