Fall Retreat Notes 
Thank you to everyone who could make it to the retreat. We all greatly apprecaite your participation and hope it was a good expierence.

Mentors and Mentorshop Session
We hope by now you've reached out to your mentor.  If you have not, please contact them as soon as possible.  They are awaiting your communication.  If you have having issues connecting with your mentor, please e-mail slfp@nmu.edu.  

One of the first tasks for your and your mentor is to sign-up for a mentorshop.  Below are the dates:

• Monday, Sept. 15 - 6 pm
• Tuesday, Sept. 16 - 4 pm
• Thursday, Sept. 25 - 5:15 pm
• Monday, Sept. 29 - noon or 4 pm
• Friday, Oct. 3 - noon

Sign-up on the Hub or by using the links below.  Just sign up yourself, no need to include your mentor in the registration. Sessions are about one hour long and are designed to be a kick-off to the mentor program.

1. You should have received an e-mail from Gallup Clifton Strength with an invitation to complete this assessment.  If you have completed this assessment during your time at NMU, you WILL NOT RECEIVE e-mail.  The e-mail is sent directly from Gallup, if you do not see it, please e-mail Erik directly (emaillar@nmu.edu).  Please have this completed by next week. Rachel Harris will be in our class (Sept. 23/24) to conduct a workshop. 

2. Mentor Biography is now live on the EduCat. This is a great way to break the ice with your mentor and complete an assignment. 

3. Just a reminder that you will need to name your service site on EduCat by October 15.  Available sites are listed or choose your own! 

4. Time Capsules are due next week.  This sheet was provided in the back of your retreat folder and we'll have copies available at school.

National Student Dialogue
Stavros Niarchos Foundation Ithaca Initiative 
WHERE? University of Delaware

WHO? Students only

WHEN? October 17-18, 2025, with travel days and accommodations October 16 – October 19

WHY? This national dialogue brings together college and university students from across the country, representing various institutional types and ideological perspectives, to engage in meaningful discussions about civic life. It brings together dialogue with collective action by introducing students to civil discourse and the public policy process.

NEW THIS YEAR: Expansion of the number of college and university students who will be able to attend. There isn’t a limit to the number of students who apply from your institution. A small group of select faculty facilitators will work with SNF Ithaca Student Leaders to facilitate group discussions that will shape the campus civility projects students will work on as they develop action plans for when they return to their campuses.

HOW? Students will identify campus civility challenges and, with other students interested in a similar issue, develop plans and strategies to address the issue they care about.

WHAT IS COVERED? Economy travel and transportation via post-event reimbursements, and meals (via Visa gift card provided upon arrival). Full details will be provided once student is accepted to participate.
