About Us

ROC Humanitas will facilitate an environment for students to learn, reflect, and act on humanitarian crises both locally and globally. It will be centered on the discernment of individual and collective responsibilities to respond to humanitarian needs wherever they arise. The project will ground students in self-reflection, moral commitment, and politically informed action. It will complement students’ fields of study with the concepts, theories, and competencies to alleviate suffering and protect human dignity and justice. The vocation of civic engagement and humanitarianism and the norms that undergird them are highly congruent with the core mission of Northern Michigan University.
